Ian Coxhead is a development economist. His research focuses on problems of globalization, growth, and development, mainly in East and Southeast Asia. He is employed at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) in Tokyo, Japan (here’s his IDE profile). From 1991 to 2022 he was a professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA and he remains an emeritus of that university. He is also an honorary professor in the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Australian National University.
At UW he was affiliated with the Center for Demography and Ecology, Institute for Research on Poverty, Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Center for East Asian Studies, and La Follette School of Public Affairs. He is also a member of the inequality measurement, interpretation, and policy network in the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Global Working Group at the University of Chicago.
